Mumbai:
A 14 -year -old girl was molested by an Uber driver in Mumbai, while she was returning home from school.
According to Mumbai Police, the minor was in his school in Prabhadevi and booked a Uber cab at 4.30 pm on Tuesday to go home. After the Uber Yatra began, the driver began a nearly an hour’s journey for his home in Pavai, but instead took the girl to a deserted area on the East Expressway.
The accused, identified as Shranash Pandey, molested him at a deserted stop with the expressway.
On returning home, the minor told his father about the incident, who then filed a complaint with the police.
A case was registered under the relevant sections of India’s relevant sections and sexual offenses Act under the relevant sections of safety of children, which led to Pandey’s arrest.
The case comes a few weeks later when parents protested outside a Navi Mumbai school, where a bus driver molested a modest school child. He demanded accountability from the administration and expressed concern about the safety of children.
