Lucknow:
Uttar Pradesh minister child Rani Maurya has urged Shahjahan Garden in Agra to change the name of Malwa Kingdom Queen Ahilibai Holkar.
The Women Welfare Minister urged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a letter.
“Yes, I wrote to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji on this issue and my proposal to name Shahjahan Garden after Progressive Queen Ahilibai Holkar, who did a lot for women empowerment. It would soon be a reality because our governments have always promoted women empowerment,” Mishri Maurya told PTI.
Suhajhan Garden is a Mughal-era of Mughal-era between Taj Mahal and Agra Fort in Agra district.
Ms. Maurya said that she was “recognized strongly” with Ahilibai Holkar and is an issue of women empowerment in her heart.
The MLA from Agra Dehat said, “I think it will inspire women who attract people around the world, especially women will inspire women … There is nothing wrong in changing such names.”
Ms. Maurya said that instructions have been issued to change the name of Shahjahan Garden.
Over the years, UP has seen a litni of similar demands, including a Mughal-era naming for replacement.
On March 29, posters nominated in ‘Laxmanagar’ came to Western UP district.
Calls have been made to rename aligarh as harigarh, mainpuri as mayanpuri, sambhal as prithviraj Nagar or kalki Nagar, Sultanpur as kushbhavanpur, and ghazipur to gadhapuri.
Opposition parties have reduced these tricks as a strategy to divert people’s attention by suppressing these tricks.
The UP government has already converted Allahabad into a prevention, and Faizabad as Ayodhya.
Samajwadi Party spokesperson Shavendra Bikaram Singh said that it has become a “fashion” to make such a demand among BJP leaders.
“Its leaders demand such a demand because the BJP has failed. The government should instead focus on the issues of real development that can benefit the common man,” Mr. Singh said.
