Virgin Atlantic flight trapped in Türkiye for more than 40 hours left for Mumbai

After being stranded at Turkish airport for more than 40 hours, more than 250 virgin Atlantic travelers, including Indians, are now airborne and their flight is expected to land late in Mumbai late on Friday evening.

The passengers were trapped at the Diyarbakir Airport in Turkey after taking the Mumbai-bound aircraft from London to Mumbai-bound aircraft on Wednesday.

In a statement on Friday, a virgin Atlantic spokesperson said the passengers were provided with the hotel residence overnight on Thursday evening.

“With all the necessary technical approval, now secured, the aircraft left the Diyarbakir Airport at 13:00 on Friday 4 April, working as Udaan vs 1358. Customers are now the routes to Mumbai, with approximate arrival at around 20:49 local time,” with the spokesperson, “said the spokesperson.

A passenger, who was among the people trapped at the airport, told PTI on Thursday that all the passengers were sitting on the floor, and no blanket was available.

In addition, no vegetarian food was available, the passenger said on the condition of anonymity.

More than 250 passengers are trapped at the airport. According to sources, an A350–1000 aircraft was operating the flight, which had more than 300 seats.
