Vivo V50E review: Is enough for E?

After launching Vivo V50 in India in February this February, Vivo chased with more affordable V50E in April. While both phones share a similar design language, V50E has a small battery, a separate chipset and a scale-down camera system. It still retains the key features such as the V50 from the V50, the quad-race display, the IP69 rating and the 90W fast charging. Compared to last year’s V40E, however, upgradation is modest. Vivo V50E starts at Rs. 28,999 for base variants with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Is it worth upgrade? Read on to find out.

Vivo V50E Design

The Vivo V50E V50 looks almost the same, with only a noticeable difference color option. Compared to its predecessor, V40E, V50E brings out a rear camera module and a more sophisticated look up, thanks to its new quad-cresh display, which is an upgrade from the standard curved screen on the older model.

The phone is available in sapphire blue (image) and pearl white color options

We found the sapphire blue variant of Vivo V50E, and it is definitely a head-turner. The rear panel has a shimmering wave pattern that holds the light beautifully. Vivo claims that each unit has a unique pattern on the rear panel; However, we cannot confirm this, only a device tested. There is also a pearl white version.

The rear panel also has a keyhol-style camera module, with two cameras and aura ring light flash. You will also find Vivo branding towards the bottom left corner. The rear panel is made from polycarbonate, and so it is a frame, which has a bright finish. The sapphire blue variant is 7.6 mm slim, while Pearl White is slightly slimmer at 7.39 mm. The phone weighs 186g and so it is very comfortable to keep. The comfort is thanked for the curved edges.

The phone has a bright frame that can easily attract fingerprint and smoke

You will find power and volume buttons on the right side, which will have USB Type-C port, a loudspeaker, a SIM card tray and dual microphone in the bottom habitat. There are also double microphones in the top part of the phone. Vivo V50E is claimed to complete the IP68 and IP69 ratings, which is good.

Vivo V50E does not offer a microSD card slot

On the front, the phone has a large 6.77-inch Full-HD+ Amold Quad-Chhumavdar display with slim bezel. The panel provides 120Hz refresh rates and has a hole-punch out for the selfie camera. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner at the bottom.

Vivo V50E Performance

Let’s start with performance performance. The Vivo V50E offers a satisfactory experience to streaming your favorite shows and films, with punch color, HDR10+ support, and widewin L1 certification. The quad-race design also adds to immersion, making it feel more premium than a flat display. The Vivo claims the gloss of the peak of 1,800 nits, but in the use of the real world, the screen does not exceptionly bright out. However, it does very well indoors.

Vivo V50E performance is not very well -founded under direct sunlight, but great works indoors

The Vivo V50E MediaTek Dimentation is powered by 7300 SOC, which is a chipset used in last year’s V40E. It comes up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. In synthetic benchmark tests, V50E gave the same results as its predecessor, which showed no significant performance benefits. Compared to similar phones like Poco X7 Pro, Vivo V50E is quite low in performance.

While day-to-day performance is usually smooth, I faced a little gap when I encountered the expanded BGMI gaming sessions and in the camera app. On the plus side, the phone remains relatively cold under the load. It runs Funtouch OS 15, Android 15, out of the box, and three years of Android update and four -year security patch. You also get AI features including AI Image Expendent, Photo Anhesar, and AI Eraser 2.0 – all of which work quite well. Google’s circle to search and Gemini is also on board.

Vivo V50E rear camera setup is similar to V40E

Proceeding on cameras, Vivo V50E has a dual rear setup, but unlike the standard V50, there is no zees branding here. You get a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), which is paired with an 8-megapixel ultravide camera. For selfie and video calls, a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor is in front. Strangely, despite using the tagline “Portrait So Pro”, Vivo has not included a dedicated portrait lens on V50E.

The image quality from the primary rear camera is very good in daylight, which has a lot of details, natural looking colors, a wide dynamic range and a balanced exposure with decency. Ultravide camera also performs well in a well -light environment. However, you will see some noise around the edges. Pictures from the phone are good with detection detection of decent edges, but do not offer natural color tones similar to standard shots. You can also use aura light to add some nature to paint pictures. The phone allows you to shoot 2x photos and 4K videos on 30fps (both front and rear cameras).

Daylight shots from main and ultravide rear cameras

The primary rear camera automatically captures good images in low-light conditions using prolonged exposure. However, you will find some noise and dazzle from light sources. On the other hand, ultravide produces camera, noise and soft images.

Now, let’s discuss battery life, which, to be honest, affects me the most. The phone packs 5,600mAh battery, which is slightly higher than the 5,500mAh unit at V40E. You get a little faster charging at 90W with charger included in the box. In PCmark battery test, the phone lasted for 23 hours and 42 minutes. In daily use, it easily gave 6-7 hours of screen-on time. For charging, the 90W charger enabled the phone to fully charge in about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Aura light feature is useful while taking portrait photos in low-light conditions

The phone has a hybrid speaker setup that provides sufficient amounts for indoor use, but lacks depth of bass. Call and microphone quality was also good. The in-display fingerprint sensor is also faster and reliable.

Vivo V50E decision

So, should you get Vivo V50E on old V40E? My answer will not be a strict, because the new phone does not have a lot of new features to warrant the upgrade. Yes, the latest model looks much better with its quad-race display and unique rear panel, but it is not enough to recommend me to recommend me who own Vivo V40E (review). The phone is also compared to other phones in the same price range, such as Poco X7 Pro (review), which offers much better performance, a better performance and equally good cameras.

Vivo V50E is not a bad phone, but it is not an important upgrade. However, if you are looking at the phone as first purchase, you may want to give it a shot.
