Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer Raj Kumar Thapa, who lost his life in the Pakistani firing early Saturday, was known for his unwavering professional devotion and people -friendly approaches, who mourned many people in the center area.
54 -year -old Mr. Thapa was widely honored for his unwavering professional devotion and acceptable nature, a quality that he echoed deeply with those he served.
An MBBS Bachelor, he joined JKA in 2001.
Mr. Thapa lost his life when a Pakistani artillery shell hit his residential quarters in the border district of Rajouri. He is alive by his wife, a doctor and his two children.
The officer was posted as Additional District Development Commissioner, Rajouri in March last year and played an important role in handling the situation in Badal village, where 17 members of three families, including 13 children, died under mysterious circumstances after falling ill between December 7 to January 19.
Before his tenure in Rajouri, Mr. Thapa served as an officer on Special Duty (OSD) for former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand from 2009 to 2014, besides playing an important role, including Mission Director of JK Skill Development Mission and Special Secretary in Labor and Employment Department.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the bereaved family in Rupnagar and saw his father, Durga Das, to condemn the death of his son.
“My heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Raj Kumar Mr. Thapa, JKAS, ADDC Rajouri, who lost their lives in the line of duty today due to firefall by Pakistan. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Earlier, the Chief Minister broke the news about the death of the officer and said, “Dustish news from Rajouri. We have lost a dedicated officer of JK administration services. Yesterday he was going with the Deputy CM (Surinder Chaudhary) around the district yesterday and I attended the meeting online.” “The officer’s residence today collided with Pak Shelling as he targeted the city of Rajouri, our additional District Development Commissioner Sh Raj Kumar Thapa died. I have not done any words to express my shock and sadness at this terrible loss of life. His soul can rest in peace,” Shri Abdullah said on a emotional post.
Tributes were also paid to various leaders, including Tara Chand, who saw Mr. Thapa as a “officer of the people”.
The former Deputy Chief Minister told PTI before going to Mr. Thapa’s house to express condolences to PTI, “He was a highly-surrendered and capable officer whose behavior with the general public was a matchless. He was working as a social worker, always ready to help the needy.”
Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma praised the exemplary dedication of Mr. Thapa during the Badal incident, declared him a “true hero in service”.
People’s Conference President Sajad Ghani Lone and CPI (M) leader Mai Tarigami, including other major figures, also enhance their condolences to Mr. Thapa’s family.
The Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Jagat Iqbal praised Shri Thapa’s dedication and selfless service, saying, “His sacrifice will always be remembered with supreme relations and deep respect.” Social media user, Johanzeb Allakaband said, “A practical mind, a talented writer and a notable administrator,” Social media user, Johanzeb Alkaband said, the disadvantage called “heartbreaking”.
