The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday urged the law enforcement agencies to urge the influential social media to identify and prosecute criminals behind the dangers of rape and death received by Apoorva Mukhija, who after their appearance on the controversial web show ‘Latant’ on the controversial web show ‘India’s Latant’.
NCW took suo motu cognitive and condemned the derogatory messages directed on Instagram and other social media platforms following a screenshot of online dangers.
On online misconduct “low”, the Commission said that no woman should feel insecure in public places or digital world.
The NCW said, “releasing the dangers of sexual violence or death sets a dangerous example and should be strictly settled,” NCW said, urged law enforcement agencies to identify criminals and prosecute them.
NCW has written to the Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Kumar Verma for immediate and intensive investigation and sought a detailed action taken within three days.
The Commission also directed that necessary support and security should be increased to Apoorva Mukha.
A few weeks after NCW calls several social media affected, including Apoorva Mukhija and Ranveer Allahabadia, on pornographic and derogatory remarks made during a section of the show ‘India’s Got Latant’ organized by Comedian Row Raina.
Both Apoorva Mukhija and Allahabadia appeared before the first commission in March and expressed regret over the incident, with an apology for their comment in the past.
While NCW reiterated that it takes a strong view against raw and aggressive materials, it makes it clear that such an abuse cannot occur under any circumstances, especially as the hazards of rape, can be appropriate or ignored.
NCW said, “The responsibility of creating a safe and respectable digital environment is not only with law enforcement, but also with social media platforms and society.”
