Xiaomi on Wednesday announced its Android 16 developer preview program with two handsets. This means that developers with Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 14T Pro handset can enroll in the program to get a quick access to successful OS from Chinese OEM and test all new features. The program requires users to download and install Android 16 Beta Build using local install or fastboot updated methods.
Xiaomi’s Android 16 Developer Preview Program
Xiaomi expands its Android 16 developer preview program on its support PageAccording to the company, it is introduced to ensure that developers have access to all necessary features for compatibility and application of the next recurrence of Android. Currently available for Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 14T Pro, it is free to use for developers.
The device should be on a software version that supports Android 16 Beta to achieve access to the developer preview program, says Ziaomi. For Xiaomi 15, the minimum OS version should be os2.0.109.0.vocmixm, while Xiaomi 14T Pro should be run on OS2.0.103.0.0.Vnnmixm or high firmware. There are two ways to install Android 16 beta build.
Local establishment
- Download Android 16 Beta Build for Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 14T Pro.
- Copy ROM upgrade package in phone storage.
- Go to Settings> About the phone> Click OS version 10 times to enter the developer mode.
- Navigate back on the phone> Click on System icon> Click on the three-Dot option and select Choose update package,
- Next, select the downloaded Android 16 update package and the handset will start upgrading to beta build.
However, the company advises users to refund all their data in advance as this upgrade method will erase all the ingredients of the phone.
Fastboot update law
The fastboot update method requires a successful permission app to unlock the bootloader before unlocking the device. However, according to the company, there are many security risk associated with it. Additionally, it can also cause the device to function unexpectedly, thus recommending caution.
If users no longer want to be on Android 16 beta build, they can return their Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 14T Pro in the official version.
