‘Yellow’ alert was issued for many districts in flood damage vehicles, Himachal Pradesh

Shimla:

Officials said about 20 to 25 vehicles parked on the roadside were damaged in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday evening.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nirand Manmohan Singh said that there were no casualties in the incident.

He said that heavy rains triggered flash floods in dry Sharshya Nallah, which damaged about 20-25 vehicles near Jagat Khan in Nirand.

Meanwhile, Hindustan -Tibet Road, National Highway -5, was blocked in Jhakri between Rampur and Kinnur due to falling from the hills.

Videos of vehicles flowing from floods and debris are roaming on social media. The level of Sutlej river has also increased. While the local people claimed that the incident was caused by a cloudburst, the administration blamed it for heavy rains.

The local meteorological center issued a ‘yellow’ warning for thunder with lightning and luxurious winds at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour (kmph) in all 12 districts on 27 and 28 May.

The Center said that warnings have been issued for the districts of Sirmaur, Solan, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra and Chamba on May 25 and 26.

A wet magic has been estimated for the next six days, although the weather was mostly dried on Saturday.

The Met Office predicted light rainfall on 27th and 28th of May at mid-hails and many places in the grounds in high hills and light to moderate rains. Light rain is expected on 25 May at isolated places in high hills and at some places in central hills and plains.
